The Zap-X platform has a self-shielding technology, which makes a costly cement radiation vault unnecessary, as well as real-time dosimetry.
"One of the ZAP-X's major attributes is that it allows us to site radiosurgery where the patients are, such as ambulatory surgery centers," said John Adler, chief executive officer of Zap Surgical. "The idea is to take radiosurgery out of the basement and make it much more available in the world today. Radiosurgery requires what is arguably the most complex tech in all of healthcare.
