Nemours Children’s Health has started construction on a new multispecialty pediatric facility in Melbourne, Florida, expanding its outpatient footprint in Brevard County.

The 34,000-square-foot center, called Nemours Children’s Health, Viera, is expected to open in summer 2027. The facility will offer primary care, specialty care and urgent care services for children and adolescents, according to the Orlando, Florida-based health system.

The site will be located in a medical plaza off Stadium Parkway between Napolo Drive and North Wickham Road.

Nemours said the center will house roughly two dozen pediatric services, including cardiology, gastroenterology, hematology and oncology, neurology, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology. Diagnostic and support services such as imaging, electroencephalograms, echocardiography, ultrasound and rehabilitation therapies also will be available.

“Breaking ground on this new location is an exciting milestone in our quest to elevate care for children and families in Melbourne and the surrounding community,” Martha McGill, Central Florida region president of Nemours Children’s Health, said in a statement.

McGill added that the expansion is intended to improve access to pediatric specialty care closer to where families live.

A local family with ties to the health system also participated in the groundbreaking ceremony. Heather Kasicki, whose son has received cardiology care through Nemours since infancy, said the additional location would reduce travel burdens for families seeking specialty services.

“When your child needs to be seen by a doctor, being close to where your child will be cared for means the world to me,” Kasicki said.

Nemours Children’s Health operates two freestanding children’s hospitals and more than 70 primary and specialty care practices across multiple states. The organization’s Central Florida operations include a specialty-licensed children’s hospital in Orlando.
