Rochester Regional Health begins oncology and imaging expansion at Unity campus

por Gus Iversen, Editor in Chief | April 27, 2026
Rochester Regional Health has started construction on an $8.9 million expansion of oncology services at its Lipson Cancer Institute at Unity campus, alongside plans for a separate $12 million outpatient imaging center.

The projects are intended to increase treatment capacity and improve access to diagnostic services.

The oncology expansion will double infusion capacity from 10 to 20 bays and add a dedicated oncology pharmacy. Health system leaders said the changes are designed to streamline treatment delivery and support more coordinated care. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

“This investment is about building the future of care for our community,” said Richard “Chip” Davis, CEO of Rochester Regional Health. “By expanding cancer services and expanding comprehensive imaging capabilities at Unity, we are strengthening our ability to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care closer to home.”

Dr. Jeffrey Haynes, executive medical director of cancer services, said the additional infusion capacity and pharmacy support would allow the organization to treat more patients while improving workflow efficiency. “This project reflects a focused investment in the clinical environment and care teams that support patients throughout their treatment journey,” he said.

Separately, the new outpatient imaging center will be located in the Unity Professional Office Building and is scheduled to open in late 2026. The facility will offer MR, CT, DEXA, X-ray, mammography and ultrasound services.

Dr. Adam Zinkin, chief of diagnostic imaging, said the expanded imaging capabilities are expected to improve access to diagnostic services and strengthen coordination between imaging and specialty care. “Access to timely, high-quality imaging is essential to accurate diagnosis and coordinated care,” he said.

Construction is set to begin April 27. During the build-out, patients will continue to access the facility through the rear entrance of the Professional Office Building.
