JPS Health Network has started construction on a new inpatient hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, marking a major step in a broader effort to expand capacity and update care facilities across Tarrant County.

The project is part of the health system’s multiphase Master Facility Plan, which aims to modernize infrastructure and improve access to services across its network. The new hospital will serve as the central component of that plan, alongside upgrades to existing buildings and the addition of new outpatient and support facilities.

According to JPS, the hospital will increase inpatient capacity and incorporate updated clinical technology within redesigned care environments intended to support more coordinated and efficient service delivery. The project also includes expansion of the existing Pavilion, replacing older infrastructure with facilities designed to meet current clinical standards.

“For generations, this community has stood alongside JPS,” said Dr. Karen Duncan, president and CEO of JPS Health Network. “During moments of crisis, in moments when hope was needed and in moments of joy such as today. Today we take a bold step forward to ensure that we leave a meaningful and impactful legacy for generations to come.”

The groundbreaking follows several recent developments across the system. Over the past year, JPS opened Medical Home Southwest Tarrant and a psychiatric emergency center, expanding access to primary and behavioral health services. A new parking garage on the main campus was also completed and is expected to support the upcoming Health Center for Women, scheduled to open later this year.

Additional projects tied to the master plan include a medical outpatient building and a central utility plant, both expected to be completed by 2029.

JPS Health Network, based in Tarrant County, operates a 582-bed hospital and more than 25 community-based clinics. The system serves as a major teaching institution and a primary provider of behavioral health services in the region.
