Long Island Community Hospital has officially joined NYU Langone Health, completing a full asset merger and adopting the name NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk.

The hospital, located in Patchogue, New York, is now the seventh inpatient facility in NYU Langone’s system, bringing expanded services and new medical technology to Suffolk County.

Since the hospital’s initial affiliation with NYU Langone in 2022, significant changes have taken place, including the introduction of robotic surgery, gynecologic oncology, and enhanced vascular, surgical, and orthopedic services. Hospital-acquired conditions have declined by 25%, emergency department wait times have been reduced by nearly 70%, and operating room procedures have increased by more than 50%.

The hospital has also introduced infusion services for cancer and neurological patients, resulting in 4,000 new visits since May 2023.

“Since affiliating with NYU Langone three years ago, our newest hospital has made incredible strides in quality and safety to better serve patients in Suffolk County,” said Dr. Robert I. Grossman, CEO of NYU Langone Health and dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine. “The completion of this merger, along with the expansion of our outpatient locations in the local community, marks a new era of healthcare exceptionalism on Long Island.”

NYU Langone has invested in new technology and infrastructure, including upgraded operating rooms with robotic equipment for gynecologic, orthopedic, and vascular procedures. The hospital has also implemented Epic’s electronic health record system to streamline care across all NYU Langone facilities. Additionally, more than 100 physicians and advanced care providers have been hired since the initial affiliation.

As part of its expansion in Suffolk County, NYU Langone is constructing a new ambulatory surgery center on Patchogue’s Main Street. Scheduled to open in 2026, the center will feature six operating rooms and four procedure rooms, providing outpatient surgical services in a specialized setting.
