Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is set to expand its Liberty Campus in Butler County, Ohio, adding significant capacity and new facilities.
The $365 million project will double the number of inpatient beds, enhance surgical capabilities, and introduce a new medical office building.
Construction begins this summer with the development of a four-story medical office building, scheduled for completion in 2027. This facility will house outpatient specialty clinics, freeing space in the hospital for inpatient services.
The hospital addition will include 72 new inpatient beds, four operating rooms, three surgical procedure rooms, and expanded Emergency Department facilities. This expansion, expected to finish in 2028, will bring the campus’ total inpatient capacity to 114 beds.
A subsequent renovation of over 100,000 square feet of the hospital’s existing space will improve patient flow and add eight imaging rooms, along with expanded pharmacy, lab, and sterile processing facilities. The renovation phase is projected to conclude in 2029.
“This expansion brings more services closer to home for families in Butler County and surrounding communities,” said Dr. Steve Davis, president and CEO of Cincinnati Children’s. “It combines advanced technology with input from families, the community, and our medical teams.”
Opened in 2008, the Liberty Campus has seen exponential growth in patient visits, surging from 109,000 in its first year to more than 282,000 annually. The expansion will help address increased demand and allow the campus to retain more patients locally, alleviating pressure on Cincinnati Children’s main campus in Avondale.
The project will create at least 250 new jobs at Liberty Campus over the next five years, adding to its current workforce of more than 1,025 employees.
