Phoenix Children's Hospital has opened its new Arrowhead Campus in Glendale, Arizona, marking a significant expansion in pediatric healthcare access for families in the West Valley.
The 175,000-square-foot facility offers a wide range of services, including inpatient care, a 24/7 emergency department, surgical care, and advanced imaging.
The new hospital is expected to serve up to 72,000 patients annually, addressing a long-standing need for specialized pediatric services in the region. According to Robert L. Meyer, president and CEO of Phoenix Children’s, this expansion has been in the works for decades. “Today’s opening is the culmination of years of effort to build a comprehensive campus that addresses the unique needs of children and ensures West Valley families can access the care they need, much closer to home,” Meyer said.
The Arrowhead Campus features 24 inpatient beds, with plans to expand to 48 by early 2025. The emergency department includes 30 treatment rooms, and the hospital also houses six operating rooms, two minor procedure rooms, an onsite laboratory, and a full suite of imaging services. The campus represents a $195 million investment and has created more than 400 jobs.
This opening completes the Arrowhead Campus, which also includes a 45,000-square-foot multispecialty clinic launched in November 2023. This clinic offers care in over 20 pediatric subspecialties, including 10 that were previously unavailable in the Northwest Valley, such as psychology and neurodiagnostics.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Arrowhead Campus is part of a broader strategy to enhance healthcare access across the Valley. This expansion follows the opening of the Avondale Campus last summer and ongoing construction at the East Valley campus. Additionally, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus recently expanded its facilities, adding new patient rooms and clinical space.
“Our goal with this expansion is to improve access, comfort, and care for families throughout our fast-growing metro,” Meyer added, emphasizing the system’s commitment to bringing top-tier pediatric care to communities across Arizona.
