Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital in Texas announces $277.5 million expansion
Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital has announced a $277.5 million expansion project, which will add 58 beds and 347,000 square feet of new and renovated service areas by 2027.
"This expansion is more than a brick-and-mortar project," said Jerry Ashworth, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital and Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. "It will allow us to continue to add and enhance clinical specialties and programs to ensure our neighbors can access both routine and complex health care services close to home."
A significant part of the expansion is the construction of a new six-story North Tower, which can be expanded to eight floors in the future. The North Tower will introduce TIRR Memorial Hermann to the community with 12 inpatient rehabilitation beds and a rehabilitation gym. Additionally, it will house 40 universal beds, increasing the hospital's total bed count to 201. The tower will also include a new dialysis suite, kitchen, and café.
The expansion also focuses on the hospital’s Emergency Center, increasing its bed count from 27 to 40, with eight dedicated pediatric rooms and four trauma rooms. Four new ORs will be added, bringing the total to 10, with the potential for six more in the future. Additionally, a new cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology suite will be established. The Labor & Delivery department will benefit from a new C-section suite and six neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) beds, while the OB Emergency Center will grow from three to five beds.
This marks the third expansion for the hospital, which has been operational for seven years. Recent developments at the hospital have included the addition of 62 inpatient beds, a second professional office building, a parking garage, and the Memorial Hermann Sports Park – Cypress, created in collaboration with Athlete Training and Health (ATH) and affiliated orthopedic specialists.
