St. Louis Children’s Hospital and WashU Medicine plan to open a pediatric outpatient specialty care center in Wentzville, Missouri, in late 2027, expanding access to pediatric services in western St. Charles County and surrounding communities.

The three-story, 133,000-square-foot facility will provide pediatric primary care alongside more than 20 specialty services, including cardiology, hematology, oncology, neurology, neurosurgery and orthopedics. Additional offerings will include outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, occupational and physical therapy, audiology and a pharmacy.

The center also will house the organizations’ first pediatric urgent care in the Wentzville area, offering treatment for common illnesses and minor injuries. Other planned services include a four-bed pediatric sleep lab for overnight evaluations of sleep disorders and a Young Athlete Center focused on sports medicine and rehabilitation in collaboration with WashU Medicine Orthopedics.

“Wentzville is a young, fast-growing community, and we are thrilled to join it,” said Trish Lollo, group president of BJC HealthCare and president of St. Louis Children’s Hospital. “Together with WashU Medicine pediatric specialists, we’ll bring compassionate, leading-edge care closer to where families live, ensuring that every child receives the individualized care they deserve.”

Mark Lowe, M.D., Ph.D., interim head of the WashU Medicine Department of Pediatrics, said the expansion is intended to improve access to primary and specialty pediatric care closer to where families live.

The Wentzville facility will become the third pediatric specialty care center operated through the partnership between the St. Louis-based hospital and WashU Medicine. Previous centers opened in west St. Louis County in 2015 and in south St. Louis County in 2021.

According to the organizations, a topping-out ceremony marking completion of the building’s structural framework was held July 7.
