Siemens Healthineers is appointing four executives from within its organization to key leadership positions, with changes taking effect beginning June 1 and extending through October.
The announcement, made by CEO Bernd Montag in a LinkedIn post, breaks down the changes.
The diagnostic imaging unit will be led by Andreas Schneck, replacing 25-year company veteran André Hartung. Hartung oversaw a period of growth in the division, including expansion of market share and development of technologies such as photon-counting CT and dry-cool MR magnet systems. Schneck brings experience across diagnostic and interventional imaging, including leadership of the MR business in Shenzhen from 2020 to 2023 and subsequent oversight of the global MR segment.

Philipp Fischer is set to lead advanced therapies, succeeding Carsten Bertram. Bertram will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until his planned retirement in 2027, supporting chief technology officer Martin Stumpe and serving as senior advisor to the managing board. Fischer, a trained physician, joined Siemens Healthineers in 2009 and has held leadership roles in cardiovascular imaging and computed tomography.
In the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, Sonja Wehsely will take over leadership from Bernd Ohnesorge, who is stepping down for personal reasons after eight years in the role. Ohnesorge will continue as senior advisor to the managing board, focusing on strategy and key customer relationships, and will also serve as liaison officer for a regional cluster in Germany. Wehsely joined the company in 2017 following a career in Austrian public healthcare and politics and currently oversees a multicountry zone spanning Central Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Finally, Elaine Becraft will become chief human resources officer on Oct. 1. She will report to Darleen Caron, who retains broader responsibilities including labor relations and regional oversight. Becraft, who joined the company in 2022, currently leads HR for the diagnostics segment and has prior experience in senior HR roles in Europe and the United States.
"This transition from within our own ranks positions our management team for the future," commented Jochen Schmitz, the company's chief financial officer. "I am very much looking forward to working with the newly assembled leadership team. At the same time, we say goodbye to colleagues who, over many years, have played a decisive role in shaping who we are today: a market and innovation leader in imaging and cancer therapy."
