Siemens Healthineers appoints new chief technology officer

Siemens Healthineers CEO, Bernd Montag, took to LinkedIn on Tuesday to announce the company was bringing in a new member to its top executive leadership.

Martin Stumpe will become the company's chief technology officer effective June 1, 2026. He comes to Siemens Healthineers from Danaher, where he has worked for over 2 years. He started at Danaher as chief data & AI officer before being promoted to chief technology & AI officer.

"His deep expertise in software development and artificial intelligence in the healthcare space, will significantly contribute to increasing our impact and leadership in Healthcare AI — an essential connector to our strategic strengths in patient twinning and precision therapy," Montag wrote. "Martin Stumpe brings extensive experience from renowned institutions and leading technology-driven companies, including NASA, Google, and Tempus Labs."

Stumpe spent three years at Google as a staff software engineer before founding the Pathology team at Google Brain, which he led for another three years.

As CTO, Stumpe will be stepping in for Peter Schardt, who served in that role for over seven years. In his own LinkedIn post, Schardt shared his plans to retire and concentrate on family life. "Now, it’s time for my successor to take the lead and continue this remarkable journey of pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare," he wrote. "For everyone, everywhere, sustainably."
