Intermountain Health said it will build a new outpatient clinic in Washington City, Utah, as part of an effort to expand access to primary and urgent care in one of the state’s fastest-growing areas.
The Salt Lake City-based health system said the facility will be located near Interstate 15 along Washington Parkway. Planned services include primary care, an InstaCare urgent care clinic, and occupational health through WorkMed. Additional services have not yet been specified.
Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion targeted for early 2028. The organization has not yet released the clinic’s name.

The announcement comes as Washington City continues to see rapid population growth. Local officials estimate the city’s population has increased by more than 35% since 2020 and is growing at an annual rate of roughly 4% to 5%. Projections suggest the population could exceed 50,000 by the end of the decade, increasing demand for local healthcare services.
Trevor Smith, regional vice president of medical group operations for Intermountain Health, said the project is intended to bring care closer to where patients live. “We are thrilled to expand services in Washington County and deepen our commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of this growing community,” he said.
Local leaders pointed to the need for expanded infrastructure to match population growth. “Washington City continues to be one of the fastest-growing communities in Southern Utah, and investments like this ensure our residents have access to high-quality services close to home,” said mayor Kress Staheli.
Natalie Ashby, president of Intermountain Health St. George Regional Hospital and Intermountain’s southwest Utah market, said the clinic is part of a broader strategy to expand access in the region. “Approving this new clinic highlights our continued focus on providing high quality care to the people who rely on us every day,” she said.
