Sonora's iTest

Longmont, CO -- Sonora Medical Systems, the world's leading supplier of after market products, training, depot-level repair and support services and test equipment to the medical imaging market, is pleased to announce the release of its newest probe test devices - iTest™ and iTest Pro™.

"The iTest professional level electrical leakage devices were specifically designed to test all types of diagnostic ultrasound probes, independent of the ultrasound systems on which they are used. Many ultrasound system OEMs recommend, for example, that a transesophageal probe (TEE) be checked with an electrical leakage tester after every patient use to insure the integrity of the insulating coating on the insertion tube portion of the probe, where even a small hole can allow fluid infiltration into the body of the TEE probe presenting a significant patient and user safety and cross-contamination risk, as well as dramatically shortening the effective life of the expensive TEE probe. Fluid infiltration by the corrosive disinfecting solution will destroy the inner electromechanical components of the TEE and represents one of the major failure modes we see in the hundreds of TEE probes we repair annually. By using the iTest unit on a consistent basis hospitals can save tens-of-thousands of dollars annually on replacement probes and increase patient and user safety," said G. Wayne Moore, President and CEO of Sonora Medical Systems.

"At our probe repair facility... we test and repair more than 4,000 probes per year and, through our experience working directly with end users of our products and repair services, have gained an industry unique understanding and perspective on the design and use characteristics most valued by our core biomedical engineering customers. By listening to the concerns of our customers we have eliminated the key issue relative to why previous generation electrical leakage testers were not used -- they were simply too difficult and time consuming to use."

The Sonora iTest was designed from the start to make it very user friendly, quick to use and adaptable to the workflow in both the hospital's echocardiography laboratory and TEE cleaning stations", he went on to say. The iTest product family includes user features allowing selection of either a threshold pass/fail mode or a quantitative meter mode. iTest also includes data logging, unit calibration information and an optional printer for record management.

In addition to designing and manufacturing industry unique ultrasound test devices and repairing thousands of probes per year, Sonora Medical Systems, located at 1751 S. Fordham Street, Suite 100, Longmont, CO 80503, is the largest and fastest growing ultrasound and MRI depot-level repair company in the United States and its operations are certified to ISO9001/13485 quality standards.
