Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic partners with new imaging group in 'first' for Philadelphia area
Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic
Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic has announced a partnership with Mid Atlantic Radiology Consultants, a newly established radiology practice.
Effective July 1, 2024, the radiology group will exclusively provide diagnostic imaging services across all Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic hospitals and locations.
“This is a first for our region,” said Jim Woodward, president and CEO of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic. “A direct partnership between a health system and independent radiology physicians hasn’t been done before at another health system in the greater Philadelphia area.”
Mid Atlantic Radiology Consultants was formed by radiologists from Mercy Diagnostic Imaging, who previously served Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, along with professionals from the Radiology Group of Abington and other independent radiologists in the region.
“These highly skilled, specialty-trained physicians represent the best radiology professionals that our region has to offer, and our patients will benefit immensely from having all subspecialty care available on site throughout our entire system,” Woodward added. “Importantly, this new partnership brings radiology services back to the bedside, reversing a growing trend in the health care industry to outsource these types of services to large-scale radiology corporations, whose physicians often never set foot in the hospitals where they operate.”
In addition to employing top radiology professionals, Mid Atlantic Radiology Consultants is offering a comprehensive academic residency program with training in all areas of subspecialty care, addressing the growing gap between radiology vacancies and graduates in the region.
Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic was formed in October 2018 by the joining together of Mercy Catholic Medical Center (Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa.), Nazareth Hospital (Philadelphia, Pa.), Saint Francis Hospital (Wilmington, Del.), and St. Mary Medical Center (Langhorne, Pa.).
