Nearly two years after opening its doors, Cleveland Clinic London is adding more patients to its roster with the opening of a new outpatient center, the Cleveland Clinic London’s Moorgate Outpatient Centre.

Located 30 minutes away across London’s metropolis from its mainstay facility, the outpatient site performs medical imaging, mammography screenings, genetic testing, and other diagnostic exams as well as health screenings and general practice services. Patients can see consultants and specialists for cardiology, dermatology, digestive diseases, gynecology, urology, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, sports medicine, and women’s health.

“The Moorgate site will provide the highest quality care and rapid access to patients in this thriving area of London,” said Cleveland Clinic London president Dr. Robert Lorenz in a statement. “Patients in the city will be able to access our world-leading specialists and integrated care, enabled by technology, all within the Square Mile.”

The new building, located in London’s Moorgate area, will also serve as a rapid access and urgent care clinic as part of a first-time partnership between Cleveland Clinic London and Moorfields Private Eye Hospital. It will offer same-day and next-day appointments for patients with urgent optical conditions brought on by trauma, unexplained vision changes, suspected infections, or eye discomfort.

Specialist ophthalmology clinics will be set up in 2024. All financial surplus generated by Moorfields Private in the partnership will be reinvested into Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The 184-bed Cleveland Clinic London Hospital opened in March 2022. Previously, the Ohio-based healthcare provider opened its Cleveland Clinic Portland Place Outpatient Centre in September 2021. Both facilities today see together over 42,000 patients, and patients at the Moorgate clinic will be referred to the hospital for clinical care.

Along with various locations across Ohio, Cleveland Clinic operates sites in Florida and Nevada. It also has a 394-bed hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where it opened up a new cancer treatment facility, the Fatima bint Mubak Center, in March earlier this year.

That same month, it installed the world’s first quantum computer solely for healthcare research at the Cleveland-IBM Discovery Accelerator clinic, the IBM Quantum System One, which is also the first on-site, private sector IBM-managed quantum computer in the U.S.

More recently, it revealed plans with Canon at RSNA to establish a comprehensive imaging research center where they will develop imaging and health IT applications to improve diagnosis and care processes and long-term outcomes for patients in preclinical imaging, human imaging, and image analysis for cardiology, neurology, musculoskeletal science, and other areas.
