BMX Medical, Inc. of Minneapolis, MN, is a two-person powerhouse located in the heart of the Midwest. Roger Strachota and John Bailey have a combined 50 years of experience and background in the medical industry that has served them well at BMX. Strachota's background is based in critical care and infusion, Bailey's background is in the surgical and IV therapy industry. BMX has been in business around 10 years, and maintains its unique selling points in the preowned medical equipment marketplace as a company with serious experience and expertise--the kind of company Strachota says is definitely "going to be around for awhile." BMX is both DOTmed Certified and among the DOTmed 100 top-rated users for 2008.

BMX primarily sells preowned respiratory equipment such as ventilators; other brisk sellers include critical care, endoscopy, IV therapy, and anesthesia equipment. BMX also has some sales in medical and cosmetic lasers. BMX's sales are both nationwide and global. Strachota says BMX has a strong market in the Middle East and Europe, recently making inroads in Bulgaria. The customer base includes domestic and international hospitals and medical centers.

Strachota observes the preowned medical equipment industry is a thriving marketplace. He notes that due to the promising business opportunities, some fly-by-night dealers with limited background and little expertise have jumped on the bandwagon to compete with established reputable companies, often with no real inventory to sell. Strachota says that concerns over quality, safety and reliability might someday lead to more regulation of the industry due to these less-reputable dealers. In the meantime, he and Bailey work hard to distinguish themselves as a company with integrity and reliability--a strong, good-sized inventory, and a solid reputation of good business practices.

DOTmed's Certification and DOTmed 100 assist in marketing BMX's reputation. Strachota says DOTmed is becoming more important and valuable to the industry by providing real opportunities for generating business, and is an effective outlet for the dealers. As example, BMX's business with international clients was facilitated in part by DOTmed Certification, giving overseas buyers confidence in their equipment purchases. Strachota also says DOTmed offers a communication advantage--a record and reference of information when potential clients contact BMX.
