In addition to its MX750 and MX850, Philips recently
showed its new imaging solutions at the 2021 RSNA annual conference in Chicago in late November. Among them was its MR 5300 1.5T system, which is Philips' second helium-free operating system. The solution is designed for MSK, neuro, spine, prostate and nominal imaging and comes with coils and features that help reduce time between patients by up to 30%.
It also introduced its MR 7700, which is made of the company’s highest-tier magnet and is designed for high-end neuro imaging, as well as diffusion and high-end clinical scanning. Philips has expanded to five additional nuclei with the scanner, allowing it to provide more metabolic and functional information for different anatomical parts.
“You can get lower TEs, you can do more high-quality diffusion imaging, which is really important for advanced users and neurology. You can also do more directions in DTI. And for fMR, you can actually get more quality detail,” Allison Stroud, BG/BU business marketing manager for MR at Philips, told HCB News at the show.
The MR 5300 is FDA cleared, with the first installation to take place in North America in February 2022. The MR 7700 is FDA-pending and will be released in 2022.
