The MX-Orthopedic
miniPACS platform is
offered as a Web-server
configuration.
SAN FRANCISCO - Carestream Health, Inc., launched a new miniPACS platform designed for orthopedic practices and displayed the advanced orthopedic capabilities of its fully featured KODAK CARESTREAM PACS at this week's American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). The new orthopedic miniPACS platform is now available in the United States and Canada.
The MX-Orthopedic miniPACS platform is offered as a Web-server configuration along with concurrent access user licenses. This orthopedic diagnostic solution allows for image review and use of advanced measurement tools (Cobb angle, coxometry, goniometry and pelvis measurements); long-length image review; edge enhancement; as well as image viewing and adjustment options. This solution includes Carestream Health's streaming technology to speed digital image transfer even over low bandwidth networks. Floating user licenses allow a registered user to simultaneously log into the Web server from multiple exam rooms or locations through a single user login account.
Orthopedic practices can capture digital images using KODAK DIRECTVIEW Classic and Elite CR Systems. These new compact, single-cassette systems deliver exceptional value by accepting standard KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR cassettes and performing a wide range of imaging applications including long-length exams. The configurable and scalable design of the Classic and Elite platform allows each user to customize the equipment to meet the facility's needs and budget. The new Classic and Elite CR systems can also help improve productivity and workflow with automatic image rendering that eliminates the need for technologists to identify each exam projection, and by allowing users to create customized settings for image presentation (by exam type/body part), which reduces the need for clinicians to make adjustments.

Images can be output using the new KODAK DRYVIEW 5800 Laser Imager, which is designed for orthopedic practices, multi-physician groups, imaging centers and clinics. MX-Orthopedic users also have the ability to outsource archiving of digital images and patient information through KODAK CARESTREAM Hosted Information Management. This off-site archiving solution is available as an ASP service model and reduces the maintenance and overhead of managing a medical archive on-site.
Orthopedic Templating from PACS Desktop
Carestream Health also demonstrated the latest version of OrthoView's comprehensive digital planning and templating solution, which can be integrated into the fully featured KODAK CARESTREAM PACS desktop or the new MX-Orthopedic system. This software incorporates auto-scaling; pediatrics and trauma planning and templating; an extensive library of joint replacement templates; automated measurement tools and other features. OrthoView software is available to licensed users of any KODAK CARESTREAM PACS workstation and can be launched with a single button, from a single system log-in.
Carestream Health provides a comprehensive portfolio of digital imaging and information management solutions to meet the needs of orthopedic and specialty clinics, as well as hospitals and other healthcare providers.
