Patient Monitors
The next generation of Philips'
Patient Monitoring solution is now
available in the US
The next generation of Royal Philips’ Patient Monitoring solution is now available to U.S. providers with bedside, transport, mobile and central station monitoring technology in place to enable efficient data acquisition, including during the transport of patients.
The enterprise-wide system combines monitoring system updates and improved service agreements to aid clinicians in improving patient care, driving clinical performance and lowering costs for health systems while enabling the obtainment of detailed data as patients are transferred between departments.
“Any type of transport or transfer of patients makes it challenging for hospital staff to obtain complete data from monitoring equipment, an example being monitoring a patient during an MR, especially if no MR compatible monitor is available,” Felix Baader, business leader of Monitoring and Analytics at Philips, told HCB News. “The other challenge is the downtime of systems and networks during transport or transfer.”
Challenges to acquiring patient data limit the clinicians’ view of a patient’s condition and put the safety of the patient at risk. A recent study sponsored by Philips found that data plays an important role in patient safety, and that 74 percent of physicians and nurses agree that a lack of information during in-hospital transport puts said safety at risk.
The Patient Monitoring solution captures patient data from monitors and medical devices and securely transfers it to hospital EMRs, ensuring virtually gap-free patient records from the time of admission to discharge, including during transports.
It also fits securely into a health system’s IT environment, incorporating advanced algorithms and clinical decision support tools such as the delivery of vital signs, waveforms and alarms to caregivers to provide better visibility of a patient’s changing condition.
The most recent offering utilizes IntelliVue X3, a highly portable, dual-purpose monitor with intuitive smartphone-style operation, released in 2017, that eliminates the need for cable changes during transport and at bedsides, saving more time to be dedicated to patients.
“With the inclusion of the IntelliVue X3, hospital staff now have a more complete set of integrated measurements, such as CO2 and multi-invasive pressures,” Baader said. “Other advantages include a longer battery life as well as an advanced user interface, larger screen, multi-touch screen, and ruggedness.”
The solution also includes IntelliVue bedside monitors with Alarm Advisor for tracking how clinicians respond to alarms, and to send out alerts when set thresholds become too sensitive; as well as a new approach in its technology for consulting, training, service and customer support, including a full range of product support and expert services.
All bedside, transport and mobile monitors are designed with the same look, feel, and interface to ensure consistency, simplicity, the acceleration of care, and to enable clinicians to deliver quality care to patients during transports.
