Canon introduced new technology at RSNA that is designed to help hospitals and clinics make the jump to digital radiology economically while expediting workflows for better patient satisfaction.

Its new wireless, secure wi-fi enabled DR Tablet Solution features a pull configuration that automatically detects radiation, takes images and sends them to the PACS.

“This is an extremely cost effective tablet with PACS connectivity,” Carlos Colon, product specialist told HCB News. “There is no loss of functionality. This device serves as a stepping stone to digital radiology.”

He added that it has a built-in bar code reader to ensure record accuracy. Colon noted that the unit is also constructed with military grade ruggedness for durability and data recovery in the event of damage. The tablet can also be detached from the base station for portability, which allows it to be shared between rooms and mobiles

Another solution Canon is highlighting at RSNA is its Scatter Correction Feature for its CXDI Software NE (Grid-free Imaging).

“Scatter Correction offers gridless margins through a proprietary algorithm,” Greg Dice, national support engineer, Virtual Imaging, Canon told HCB News. “The program knows how much radiation hits the (image) detector, so the result is higher."
