Radiology image management software firm DR Systems Inc. said Monday it received a new patent for a medical image matching feature deployed in its "Best-in-KLAS" Unity PACS.
U.S. patent number 7,787,672 covers a "method of matching medical images according to user-defined matches rules," according to the patent's abstract on the U.S. Patent Office's website.
"In one embodiment, the matched medical images are displayed according to user-defined display rules such that the matched medical images may be visually compared in a manner that is suitable to the viewer's viewing preferences," the abstract reads.
The patent was originally filed in November 2005. According to the patent, its inventors are Murray A. Reicher of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; Evan K. Fram of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; Steven M. Greim of Oceanside, Calif.; and John J. Schumacher of San Diego.
Last year, DR Systems, based in San Diego,
got the top spot in research firm KLAS' annual ratings for the PACS category for the second year in a row.
