Many DOTmed users claim they're big but
Genesis Medical Imaging really means it. "We're up and coming that's for sure. We are the largest independent and I'll go head to head with anybody else who thinks they're bigger," challenged Vice President Ron Ragan.
The eight-year-old company specializes in high-end imaging including GE CT and MR, Picker and Philips CT, and Siemens MR. The company has also branched out into brokering equipment. Customers include hospitals, doctors' offices, clinics and hospital groups.

"With hospitals right now, they are looking at the bottom line. They all want to have the best, but can't always afford that. So they're looking for an alternative. We specialize in anything from three months old up to seven years old. We bring it in, do a refurb on it, and guarantee it will meet or exceed the OEM specs," Ragan said. "You have to make it perform above or better than the OEMs at a reasonable price."
The company employs about 100 and is expanding with headquarters in Chicago and satellite offices in all the major U.S. cities.
Genesis Medical Imaging has spin off LLCs including Genesis Mobile Partners, a DOTmed 100-ranked company in its own right. Genesis Mobile Partners provides loaner scanning facilities while equipment is being serviced. "We have a fleet of about 30 mobiles that we rent across the U.S. that do MRI and CT scans. When we're doing installs and upgrades, we offer the customer to operate out of one of our mobiles and use that in the interim while their scanners are being installed or refurbished," Ragan said. "We just incorporate it into the price and the customer is very happy with a one-stop shop. And that way there's no interruption of operations for them."
Genesis Magnet Services is another company in the Genesis family, responsible for cold head and magnet maintenance.
"I always use DOTmed to see what equipment is out there," Ragan noted. "It's just another means for us to see what's on the market, what's available. Or even to show us what people are looking for."
