Twinsburg, Ohio (March 2006) -- Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA) has received 510(k) marketing clearance for the CXR16, the newest model of Hitachi's CT scanner product line. Hitachi will now take the next step in expanding its participation in the $1.5 billion (U.S.) CT market.
"The CXR16 embodies the same high clinical performance, breadth of applications, excellent reliability and total ownership value as Hitachi's well-known MR products family," says Mark Silverman, HMSA's CT marketing manager. "The CXR16 is designed to participate in the large mid-tier segment of the CT market. What distinguishes Hitachi's CT scanner is that important features typically sold as options on other CT systems or associated with high-tier scanners come standard on the CXR16. These features include a 7.5 MHU x-ray tube, a 72 kW generator and an industry-leading reconstruction capability of up to 40 images per second."
"Interest in the CXR16 has been strong among customers who appreciate value and reliability in the fast-growing, competitive outpatient imaging market," Silverman adds, "Hitachi plans to continue to expand its CT product family into a broad product line, focusing on providing the best enterprise solution for outpatient imaging customers."
