On January 13, Ziosoft®, Inc., a leader in advanced visualization and analysis software for medical imaging, announced that it received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its CT brain perfusion application, according to the company's website. Ziosoft, Inc. is a recognized leader in networked advanced visualization and analysis software to benefit physicians, patients, and health care specialists.

The brain perfusion application is a powerful analysis tool used with the Ziostation thin-client system. The software is unique in its ability to provide brain perfusion functionality to clinicians as a thin-client application using standard commercial hardware. This software option aids radiologists in stroke assessment by providing a color map of cerebral blood flow and other perfusion-related parameters from CT images of the brain.

"Because time to reach diagnosis and begin treatment for stroke victims is critical, we are pleased to provide this new brain perfusion application which can be accessed enterprise-wide," said Mark Koeniguer, Ziosoft's chief operating officer. "Results can also be accessed via a standard web-browser through Ziostation Web, demonstrating our commitment to providing clinicians with the most advanced imaging software wherever needed."
