Philips has expanded its partnership with Ibex Medical Analytics, aiming to further integrate AI into digital pathology workflows.
The collaboration builds on a joint initiative launched in 2021 and includes the release of Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution (PIPS) 6.0, which features enhanced interoperability between the two companies' platforms.
The upgraded system supports AI-powered tools for detecting prostate, breast, and gastric cancers.
According to Philips, use of the combined technologies has yielded productivity gains of up to 37%, with improvements in diagnostic reporting and case prioritization. The PIPS platform includes a portfolio of digital scanners and an image management system that can now directly launch Ibex’s AI tools following image digitization.
PIPS 6.0 introduces several upgrades including full scan mode for Philips’ SG scanner, AI-enabled case worklists, and contextual integration of Ibex’s software into image review. These updates are intended to streamline workflow, improve result reproducibility, and support faster turnaround for clinical decisions.
“The enhanced interoperability between Philips and Ibex platforms, which are now more seamlessly integrated into our diagnostic workflows, will accelerate the adoption of augmented pathology tools in which we strongly believe,” said Stéphane Rossat, innovation and scientific director at Medipath.
Philips also announced expanded collaboration with Amazon Web Services to offer cloud-based storage and data management, targeting scalability for pathology labs handling large imaging volumes.
