Siemens Healthineers at RSNA 2024
As the exhibition floor opened on the 2024 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting, Siemens Healthineers unveiled a new line of photon-counting CT scanners and an AI software update to its flagship ultrasound system.

Naeotom Alpha class of CT systems
The company has introduced a series of photon-counting CT scanners that together comprise the Naeotom Alpha class. The lineup includes the Naeotom Alpha.Pro, a dual-source scanner for high-demand imaging environments; the Naeotom Alpha.Prime, which is geared toward emergency and inpatient care and is the world’s first single-source photon-counting CT scanner; and a rebrand of the original Naeotom Alpha, launched in 2021, as Naeotom Alpha.Peak.

Naeotom Alpha.Pro
Photon-counting CT provides high-res imaging by counting individual X-ray photons, allowing for detailed anatomical and functional imaging at lower radiation doses. The technology also enhances diagnostic accuracy and reduces artifacts, meaning faster clinical decision-making and optimized workflows.

Siemens Healthineers’ expanded portfolio aims to make photon-counting CT accessible to a broader range of healthcare providers, setting a new standard in diagnostic imaging. The company is investing $85 million to expand production of photon-counting detectors in Forchheim, Germany, reflecting its commitment to advancing this technology.

Naeotom Alpha.Peak, Naeotom Alpha.Pro and Naeotom Alpha.Prime are pending FDA clearance and are not yet commercially available.

Acuson Sequoia 3.5
Acuson Sequoia 3.5, the latest iteration of Siemens Healthineers' flagship ultrasound system, introduces AI Abdomen, a first-of-its-kind feature designed to streamline abdominal imaging by automating organ labeling and measurements.

Acuson Sequoia
AI Abdomen leverages artificial intelligence to standardize ultrasound exams, reducing sonographer hand motion by up to 89% compared to manual methods. The feature identifies and labels 17 anatomical views and performs 12 key measurements within milliseconds. This not only addresses variability across users but also alleviates physical strain for sonographers.

Other enhancements include the HLX transducer for improved breast and musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging and new tools for liver assessment.

Acuson Sequoia 3.5 is FDA-cleared, CE-marked, and available worldwide.
