Royal Philips and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have expanded their strategic collaboration to enhance Philips' HealthSuite platform and integrate generative AI into healthcare workflows.
The Amsterdam-based OEM aims to improve diagnostics by offering cloud-enabled solutions for radiology, cardiology, and digital pathology that unify workflows and enhance access to critical insights.
Building on the success of transitioning over 150 healthcare sites in North and Latin America to HealthSuite Imaging on AWS, Philips plans to extend these services to Europe.

Unified workflows and generative AI
Philips’ cloud-enabled systems leverage AWS' infrastructure to provide a unified view of patient data, including radiology images and digital pathology slides, enabling care teams to collaborate seamlessly. The cloud-based approach also allows clinicians to access diagnostic and reporting tools remotely, potentially improving efficiency and collaboration.
The partnership incorporates AWS's generative AI capabilities, offering tools such as conversational reporting, which could allow clinicians to draft structured reports using natural language. “Combining Philips’ healthcare informatics portfolio with AWS' generative AI capabilities gives clinicians access to imaging insights so they can deliver more effective and efficient care,” said Matt Garman, CEO of AWS.
Supporting clinicians and reducing workloads
Philips is exploring generative AI applications to tackle increasing clinical demands. The company’s innovation roadmap includes automating repetitive tasks, integrating patient histories into diagnostic reports, and reducing reporting time while maintaining accuracy.
Philips CEO Roy Jakobs emphasized the collaboration's focus on supporting clinicians and enhancing care delivery: “Collaborating with AWS helps us to innovate faster and deliver better care for more people.”
