GE HealthCare’s MIM Software has launched MIM Symphony HDR Prostate, an advanced solution to enhance high dose-rate (HDR) prostate brachytherapy by integrating MR guidance during live ultrasound procedures.
HDR brachytherapy, a procedure that implants radioactive sources into the prostate via needles, typically relies on CT or ultrasound imaging. Incorporating MR can reduce toxicity to critical structures, though aligning MR contours with live ultrasound images has been challenging.
The new solution aligns preoperative MR contours with live ultrasound, aiding precise needle placement by defining lesions, correcting orientation differences, and digitizing needles for review. The ReSlicer tool adjusts for orientation differences between MR and ultrasound images, further enhancing accuracy.

GE Healthcare
acquired MIM Software earlier this year.
“Our goal with this solution is to empower clinicians to plan and deliver safe, more informed, and precise treatment for patients with prostate disease,” said Andrew Nelson, CEO of MIM Software, GE HealthCare. “MIM Symphony HDR Prostate exemplifies decades of innovations that enable precision care, and we’re thrilled to expand our impact in brachytherapy.”
This solution is the latest addition to GE HealthCare’s MIM Software portfolio, which includes MIM Maestro, Contour ProtégéAI+, and MIM Symphony LDR. The Palo Alto, California-based company continues to offer a wide range of solutions in radiation oncology, enhancing efficiency and care across treatment pathways.
