Crothall Healthcare has acquired the field service division of Technical Prospects from DirectMed Imaging.
Crothall Healthcare is widening its Northeast, upper Midwest, and Western regional footprints with the acquisition of Technical Prospects’ field service division.

Technical Prospects facilitates parts procurement, technical support, and engineering training for CT, MR, cath-angio, C-Arms, general X-ray, ultrasound, and mammography equipment, with a special focus on Siemens Healthineers solutions. It was acquired in August 2023 by DirectMed Imaging, which recently decided to leave the equipment service business to focus on its core specialties in parts, systems sales, and training, and is based in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Crothall, which is based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, supports almost 1,300 healthcare service teams for 150 healthcare organizations in 46 states and territories. Its services include healthcare technology solutions, environmental services, patient transport and observation, facilities management, ambulatory services, and sterile processing.

The company says that the acquisition of the field service division of Technical Prospects provides it with additional offerings, allowing it to better compete with other independent service organizations and original equipment manufacturers.

“Technical Prospects' field service division complements Crothall Healthcare’s existing full-service biomed/multivendor Imaging capability. Technical Prospects has a sterling reputation as a Siemens specialist. The acquisition brings even more depth and breadth to Crothall’s capability on the latest Siemens Healthineers imaging products,” said Geoffrey Hunt, Crothall’s VP of imaging healthcare technology solutions, in a statement.

Additionally, providers that rely on Technical Prospects’ and its field service division will have access to new healthcare technology management services, including proactive planning, predictive maintenance, ironclad compliance, and seamless disposal. This will allow providers to have a coordinated and cost-effective maintenance and management plan, backed by data analytics, across all of their OEM modalities throughout their individual life cycles.

All employees under the field service division have become part of Crothall Healthcare, and the division has become part of the existing Crothall Healthcare brand.

Crothall’s HTS division has been ISO 13485 certified since 2019 and was recertified in 2022.

DirectMed Parts & Services revealed its plans to exit the equipment service brand in November at the RSNA 2023 Annual Meeting where it debuted its new brand as DirectMed Imaging. The change unifies its recently acquired subsidiaries, Technical Prospects, ScanMed, and LBN Medical under a single identity that includes a new logo, visual identity, and brand concept, "Comprehensive Made Simple."
