Vandalia Health System has acquired fellow West Virginian provider Davis Health System, making it a 12-hospital system spread out across four states.
The two
signed a letter of intent in June and completed the transaction in December, with Vandalia Health incorporating Davis Medical Center in Elkins, Broaddus Hospital in Philippi, and Webster Memorial Hospital in Webster Springs into its brand.
Located in Charleston, West Virginia, Vandalia Health is also made up of Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Health System and Mon Health System, which together provide it with over 130 ambulatory locations, more than 11,000 employees, and over 1,200 doctors and advanced practice providers across West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.
“This growth as a health system allows us to strengthen and expand the scope of care available for patients while managing healthcare costs,” said Dave Ramsey, president and CEO of Vandalia Health, and David Goldberg, president and CEO of Mon Health System/Vandalia Health North and executive vice president of Vandalia Health, in a joint statement.
Davis Medical Center is a 24-hour, 80-bed hospital that provides acute inpatient, outpatient, surgery, emergency, and physician specialty care, including radiology. It recently added 75,000 square feet to its facility to facilitate better access to ancillary and primary/specialty physician services. Additionally, it has 24 private medical and surgical beds, a 30-bed medical and surgical unit, a 9-bed ICU, and an 11-bed day surgery unit.
A not-for-profit facility, Broaddus is also open 24/7 and has 60 beds. It performs CT and ultrasound imaging, and has a Total Therapy Center for inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services; specialty clinics; its Broaddus Family Practice; a lab; and behavioral medicine services.
At Webster Memorial Hospital, patients have access to a 24/7 emergency department and can undergo ultrasound, CT, MR, and mammography imaging, as well as nuclear medicine exams. It also has a rural healthcare clinic for primary, pediatric, and women’s healthcare and annual wellness visits; lab services; and inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services.
