Probo Medical acquires Ultra Select.
Probo Medical is acquiring Ultra Select Medical, a service provider based in Charleston, South Carolina that distributes, maintains, repairs, and provides training for ultrasound.
Probo Medical, which private equity group Avista Capital Partners
acquired a majority stake in for around $450 million in 2022, has entered into multiple deals and collaborations to scale its ultrasound service offerings, including through its
2018 merger with MedCorp; and
partnership with Mindray in 2021.
Based in Illinois, the company also services C-arm, X-ray, mammo, fluoroscopy, MR, and CT scanning technologies designed by several major OEMs, including GE HealthCare, Philips, Siemens Healthineers, and Mindray.

Founded in 2009, Ultra Select is privately owned and operated, and services and distributes ultrasound solutions designed by many of the same companies that Probo Medical works with, including GE HealthCare, Siemens Healthineers, Philips, Sonosite, Samsung and Mindray, as well as Konica Minolta.
Most recently, Ultra Select merged in September 2022 with Platinum Healthcare, an authorized distributor of Siemens Medical ultrasound solutions that also provides warranty coverage and 24/7 support for the equipment.
Probo Medical has 14 facilities in the U.S. and Europe, gained through multiple acquisitions it has undertaken in the last few years, including
with Mi Healthcare in the U.K.;
Canute Medical in Canada; and REMETRONIX, which
installs and de-installs equipment throughout North America.
Financial details of its purchase of Ultra Select were not disclosed.
