Philips installed a ProteusOne solution last month at the Oncology Reference Center (C.R.O.) in Aviano, Italy. Advocate Radiation Oncology in conjunction with its affiliate, Southwest Florida Proton also chose, back in April, to install a ProteusOne system that included both PBS and a fully integrated quality assurance (QA) hardware and software package from IBA Dosimetry America. IBA will provide long-term operation and maintenance services. Advocate Radiation Oncology expects to start treating patients by 2023.

The ProteusOne system at New Mexico Cancer Center comes with a 10-year maintenance contract. Such systems usually range between $40-$50 million.

IBA has received the first payment and expects to start seeing revenue soon. “This new contract with New Mexico Cancer Center will enable the delivery of IBA’s cutting-edge technology to the citizens of New Mexico for the first time,” said Olivier Legrain, chief executive officer of IBA, in a statement. “It is the seventh ProteusONE system and 19th proton therapy system we have sold in the U.S., underlining our leading position in the U.S. proton therapy market, and continuing to build upon the strong momentum in the region as we enter 2022.”
