Nanox and USARAD are working to extend affordable medical imaging to U.S. providers
Nano-X Imaging (Nanox), a company currently developing a commercial-grade digital X-ray source for real-world medical imaging applications, has teamed up with USARAD to provide greater and more affordable access to medical imaging for patients in the U.S.
The two will deliver more than 3,000 Nanox Systems to radiologists across the U.S., with the objective of eventually integrating the solution within more than 6,000 freestanding imaging centers, over 7,600 urgent care clinics, thousands of physician practices and numerous retail locations across the country. A Siemens Healthineers-backed company, USARAD offers Nanox access to more than 300 board-certified radiologists at over 500 medical facilities that rely on its Radiology-On-Demand platform for services.
"USARAD brings a wealth of professional radiology and market proficiency in the American healthcare arena, as well as acting as a pivotal partner to support our business model and social agenda in the U.S," said Ran Poliakine, founder and chief executive officer of Nanox, in a statement.
Approximately two-thirds of the world’s population possesses no access to medical imaging systems according to the World Health Organization, while many who do face long wait times for scanning.
The Nanox System is composed of the Nanox.Arc, a medical imaging system that utilizes the company’s novel digital X-ray source, and the Nanox.Cloud, a companion cloud-based software that provides end-to-end medical imaging services that include image repository, radiologist matching, online and offline diagnostics review and annotation, connectivity to diagnostic assistive artificial intelligence systems, billing and reporting.
USARAD provides services to radiologists in all 50 states, as well as in 15 countries. Among these services is advanced teleradiology, which is made possible through the AI and blockchain technology capabilities available on the Radiology-On-Demand platform. The company expects the addition of Nanox.CLOUD to enhance the quality of this and other services.
"Nanox brings innovation in the form of a novel and revolutionary digital X-ray source, after more than 100 years of no material change in X-ray source technology," said Dr. Michael Yuz, founder and CEO of USARAD, in a statement. "Current top-range medical imaging systems are extremely expensive and there are not enough scanners to provide proper accessibility for all communities to have early-detection healthcare. We believe the Nanox.Arc is the game-changer we have all been waiting for, to solve the availability issue in our field."
The deployment of the initial 3,000 systems will be carried out under Nanox’s MSaaS (Medical Screening as a Service) pay-per-scan business model, which is expected to make medical imaging more accessible at affordable costs.
