Probo Medical is expanding its role in the world of ultrasound with the acquisition of Trisonics.

Specializing in the sale, refurbishment and repair of such devices, including the resale of 2D, 3D/4D and transesophageal ultrasound probes, the Varsity Healthcare Partners portfolio company will now offer an extensive ultrasound service division to its customer base.

"Probo Medical is a growth oriented company and it was a natural fit to expand our product offering into the field service arena," Zach Wills, chief integration officers for Probo Medical, told HCB News. "Trisonics has an extremely experienced team and this partnership will allow them to expand the products they bring to their customers."

New Fully Configured 80-slice CT in 2 weeks with Software Upgrades for Life

For those who need to move fast and expand clinical capabilities -- and would love new equipment -- the uCT 550 Advance offers a new fully configured 80-slice CT in up to 2 weeks with routine maintenance and parts and Software Upgrades for Life™ included.

Initially dedicated to probes and probe repair, Probo Medical added refurbishment services to its portfolio in early 2018 when it merged with MedCorp.

Headquartered in Fishers, Indiana, Probo Medical houses more than 120 employees, spread out across four locations. Its business is composed of its ultrasound probe operations in Fishers and Tulsa, Oklahoma; its MedCorp office for ultrasound sales in Tampa; and now service and sales throughout the eastern U.S. by Trisonics, which is located in Harrisburg Pennsylvania.

Trisonics will continue to work under its current name and retain its tenured service team, as part of the agreement. The full-service ultrasound equipment and service provider is ISO 13485 certified and comprises a team of experienced field service engineers.

"Probo Medical is a financially strong company and is looking to invest in well-run businesses to continue it's growth in an industry that is consolidating," said Wills. "Trisonics had a lot of options when looking for a partner but the Probo Medical platform provides the vision and growth opportunities the company was looking for. Probo Medical is actively looking to grow and will continue to expand through acquisition as the opportunities present themselves."
