Aidoc and SaferMD partner to boost Radiologist MIPS scores
Aidoc and SaferMD are setting their sights on raising not just clinical performance but radiologist scores awarded by the Medicare Merit-Based Incentive Payments Systems (MIPS).
Combining Aidoc’s AI-based decision-support software with SaferMD’s Radiology Qualified Clinical Data Registry, the two organizations hope to help radiologists earn positive payment adjustments for Medicare procedures.
"There are nine measures of findings that the Aidoc's AI system can detect and move to the top of a radiologist's worklist," Brian Gale, SaferMD's managing member, said in a statement. "This allows radiologists to view and report the findings more quickly, which translates directly to better outcomes. SaferMD's measures are based on urgent results, where quick turnaround can lead to much better outcomes and can even save lives.”
Providers earn positive payment under MIPS by demonstrating the ability to deliver high-quality and efficient care.
Adherence to SaferMD’s QCDR equips radiologists with 19 high-priority measures and eight sub-measures approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for 2018-2019 MIPS reporting to assess communication and actions initiated during imaging exams.
Together, the two form a system capable of automatically generating data needed to report MIPS, demonstrating at the same time the value of AI-based imaging analysis.
"We're delighted to be partnering with SaferMD to ensure that the value of AI-based radiology solutions are properly recognized by CMS," Aidoc co-founder and CEO Elad Walach said in a statement. "With the updated QCDR, radiologists get access to meaningful MIPS metrics, which recognize the value of AI-driven imaging solutions for improving patient care and generating financial returns. Combining Aidoc and SaferMD, radiologists can start seeing value immediately."
Demonstrations of the combined solution will be held at the annual Radiological Society of North America conference in Chicago.
