BOSTON, Sept. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- PatientPing, a health technology company that connects providers to seamlessly coordinate patient care, announced today that it has named former Division Head of Population Health at Epic Systems Corp., Sagnik Bhattacharya, as its Head of Payer & Provider Initiatives.

Bhattacharya will leverage his years of healthcare technology product development experience to build and launch new initiatives within PatientPing. He will be joining PatientPing's leadership team to spearhead projects that leverage and expand PatientPing's dense regional provider communities to further improve care quality and lower costs.

As division head at Epic, Bhattacharya led the creation of the company's provider- and payer-facing population health platform, Healthy Planet, the #2 ranked system by KLAS in the population health segment. Prior to leading the development of Healthy Planet, Bhattacharya led Epic's ambulatory EHR, the #1 ranked EHR by KLAS for 8+ years. He was also responsible for technology focused on data analytics, case management, CRM, physician & employer engagement, and health plan administration and helped expand the company's footprint base beyond its traditional market. He also launched Epic's internal innovation incubator program (Epic Labs) that fosters incremental and disruptive ideas into roadmaps for successful prototypes.

"Our country has an important opportunity to build infrastructure that facilitates coordination across care settings," said PatientPing co-founder and CEO Jay Desai. "PatientPing is organically bringing interoperability nationally through clean, focused and intuitive applications that make it easier for all providers to deliver coordinated care. Sagnik's deep experience in clinical workflows, value-based care initiatives, and payer operations will help us lead the industry in creating new solutions that enable providers to deliver high quality, team-based care. In addition to being an incisive, forward-thinking innovator, Sagnik also happens to be a humble and kind person with whom I'm thrilled to work."

"Effective population health management requires timely, reliable and relevant patient data to be seamlessly shared across care teams," Bhattacharya said. "I am excited to lead the development of new solutions at the intersection of payers and providers to optimize clinical outcomes and improve financial performance and the patient experience. I am passionate about leveraging technology to improve the provider experience. The opportunity to build PatientPing's network to enhance communication and cut down on workflow friction is something I look forward to."

Bhattacharya's background is in computer science; he has a master's degree from University of Virginia and a bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
