Intelerad Medical Systems is offering providers access to multiple medical image analysis applications and AI algorithms through a single solution.
The launch of Blackford Platform, designed in conjunction with Blackford Analysis, expands the transatlantic partnership between the Canadian enterprise and its British collaborator while playing into Intelerad’s AI initiative to connect and work with the most advanced providers in the field of machine learning.
"While there has been a lot of interest and speculation around artificial intelligence and how it will impact medical imaging professionals, only a few organizations like Intelerad have actually taken the initiative of providing an integrated environment for healthcare providers to start using FDA-cleared clinical applications within their existing workflows,” Helene Gey, vice president of marketing at Intelerad, told HCB News. “One of Intelerad's core competencies is enterprise workflow orchestration, and it was natural for us to look for best-of-breed partners that would bring the most advanced clinical applications to our clients and offer them within our radiologists' favorite InteleViewer diagnostic platform."

Deploying clinical imaging applications requires extensive technological and workflow integration, making it a time-consuming feat.
The Blackford Platform offers providers a simple and accelerated route to adopt regulatory cleared image analysis application and AI algorithms, enabling them to access condition-specific actionable information to apply for better outcomes with greater diagnostic confidence. It also reduces costs and minimizes the amount of time spent on manual tasks.
Specific applications available on the platform include:
• axial3D - Provides easy access to medical 3D printing to deliver deeper insight into anatomy and pathology. Reduces surgery time, thereby diminishing risks to patients and increasing chances of survival.
• Blackford Registration (3D Cursor) – Already integrated with Intelerad IntelePACS, 3D Cursor automates image registration to save time, enhance efficiency and improve the quality of reporting and care.
• CorTechs Labs - NeuroQuant supports clinicians to quantify brain structure; LesionQuant offers simple evaluation of a variety of neurological conditions.
• Icometrix - Optimizes the treatment selection process in MR brain studies to support early prognoses and initiate, stop or change therapies earlier.
However, according to Gey, these will not be the only ones. "As new applications become available, they will simply be added to our portfolio, ready for clients to evaluate them.”
The solution will be on display at the SIIM 2018 Annual Meeting in National Harbor, Maryland.
