Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas Inc. unveiled its KDR Primary Digital Radiography System this month at the American Association of Orthopedic Executives (AAOE) 2018 Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.

The solution is designed for office-based X-imaging, providing advanced digital X-ray capabilities and exceptional functionality in a compact footprint to practices and clinics that seek to produce top image quality and access versatile imaging options in limited spaces.

“Many offices have limited space and are also constrained by the size of the rooms with eight foot ceilings. The new KDR Primary has a small footprint and can fit into standard rooms with eight foot ceilings,” Guillermo Sander, senior strategic marketing manager at Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas Inc., told HCB News. “Also, the KDR Primary doesn’t require the use of a table for imaging, which can take up a lot of space in the room. It can perform imaging while the patient is standing or sitting, even in a wheelchair, as well as conduct weight-bearing studies.”

KDR Primary builds on the capabilities of the KDR Advanced U-arm System, optimizing workflow and expediting the diagnostic process.

It comprises a 17x17 inch detector, enabling the capture of high resolution images in seconds, and provides detailed bone and soft tissue visualization from a single exposure.

It also is equipped with a swivel arm that rotates 135 degrees in both directions and 39 inches vertically, causing the detector to tilt 45 degrees in two directions to accommodate all imaging views whether the patient is standing, sitting, lying down or confined to a wheelchair.

The space saving design allows staff to maneuver around the system, creating great flexibility for quality patient care and reducing repeat scans due to incorrect positioning or movement.

Sander claims that KDR Primary provides quick diagnostic results and eliminates the need to schedule additional appointments or refer patients to other professionals.

“X-ray imaging remains an integral part of patient diagnosis, and using digital technology can help make the staff more efficient and productive compared to CR. This can help reduce costs,” he said. X-ray is an economical imaging test, compared to CT or MR, and depending on the patient condition it can often provide the information for a clinician to make a confident diagnosis.”

The system is available as a weight-bearing stand or pediatric imaging package.
