lifeIMAGE launches its Clinical Connector application
lifeIMAGE released its Clinical Connector vendor-neutral, standards-based Clinical Connector application on Tuesday.
“[This] automates the distribution of medical records, including imaging back-and-forth between physician and patient, which reduces or eliminates costly, time-consuming and unnecessary tasks,” Matthew A. Michela, president and CEO of lifeIMAGE, told HCB News.
Those tasks include coordinating with patients and providing the information on a CD. That can be burdensome for the patient as well as the radiologist if the patients come to an appointment without their records or with an unreadable CD.
Clinical Connector provides a view of a patient’s care across multiple delivery sites. It simplifies the provider’s workflow inside any EHR or PACS and can be scaled to support growth.
The company is making it available to all clearinghouse users of the Radiological Society of North America Image Share pilot program, which gives patients control of their medical records and radiology reports. The program will be completed on March 31, 2018.
“We can logically assume that participants in the Image Share pilot have hospital customers who have a current workflow in place for this activity that needs to be addressed, but we recognize the industry need is much broader than just those early adopters of the concept,” said Michela.
He added that they made the Clinical Connector app standards-based, so everyone — not just those building proprietary connections — can utilize it without having to duplicate the effort lifeIMAGE put into creating the solution.
lifeIMAGE recently completed interoperability testing as part of the 2018 Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise North American Connectathon. Clinical Connector successfully demonstrated end-to-end compliance and technological integration across the entire care continuum.
