DÜSSELDORF, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The fourth site at Nexuz Health, a consortium of 17 partners who work together to support the goals of accessible and high-quality patient care in Flanders, has gone live with the MetaVision clinical information system. AZ Groeninge Kortrijk has replaced paper charts with complete and accurate electronic patient records in their ICU. Built to meet the unique needs of the critical care environment, MetaVision provides the hospital with advanced tools for clinical workflow management and documentation, clinical assessment, care planning and decision support. Itémedical and iMDsoft cooperated to bring about this solution.

AZ Groeninge Kortrijk joins veteran MetaVision customers and Nexuz Health partners UZ Leuven, OLV Ziekenhuis Aalst and AZ Sint-Lucas. Nexuz Health uses Klinisch Werk Station (KWS) for computerized management of its patient records throughout the network, with MetaVision providing specialized functionality and standardization of workflows for the ICUs of these four sites. While preserving uniformity across sites, MetaVision can also accommodate the unique requirements of individual units. These Nexuz hospitals benefit from centralized management, enabling them to maintain the system with fewer resources. Using UZ Leuven's mature database and experienced team, AZ Groeninge Kortrijk enjoyed a fast and easy implementation with rich localized content. "MetaVision gives us the opportunity to evaluate and improve ICU quality of care processes. It facilitates the development of research projects and allows us to participate in multicentric trials," said Dr. Wouter De Corte, head of the ICU at AZ Groeninge Kortrijk.

iMDsoft is proud to celebrate a decade of partnering successfully with Nexuz Health founder UZ Leuven. The hospital has used MetaVision to make significant advances in the areas of ICU nutrition and blood glucose control. These important discoveries have been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the multi-centre EPaNIC study in the New England Journal of Medicine. "At our department of intensive care medicine in Leuven, high quality clinical research is one of the main priorities. We have been able to randomise patients for complex treatment interventions and guide our clinicians through the protocol, thanks to MetaVision’s decision support tools, the Event Manager, and the form builder. In addition, having all our data in a well-structured relational database made data retrieval a lot easier," said Geert Meyfroidt, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, Intensive Care medicine, UZ Leuven.
