Patients show up – and as a human, it’s when you’re most exposed. You’re sick, you’re not feeling well. Patients want four things in this order:
1. Please take care of me, there’s something wrong.
2. Please don’t further injure me.
3. Be nice — I’m nervous, I don’t feel well.
4. I have a life — can we be quick about it?
I think those are the things patients want — that’s what I want. If we focus around patient satisfaction, we’ll be very successful.

HCBN: What are the key strengths of Marina Del Rey and how will you leverage them?
SF: One of the reasons I took the job is because of the physicians we have on staff. We have an impressive lineup of physicians. It’s so wonderful to have that much clay to work with. It’s just a fantastic group. We have an outstanding spine center — it would be very difficult to find a group of spine or orthopedic spine surgeons that do a better job than our group does. Our bariatric program is also incredibly talented. And lastly, our investment in technology – we have the Da Vinci robotic system for example.
