It's not all doom and gloom
Siemens Healthcare's linac exit, 7T MRI speculations and a list of the top posts of 2011 were the three most-clicked stories over the last 30 days. Siemens had a big month, overall: news that the German electronics giant was slashing 1,600 jobs from its health care division drew the eighth most readers.
Also making the top five was a report by MedPAC that Medicare fee-for-service imaging volumes were coming back to earth after a skyward trajectory for the better part of the last decade. Financially, though, it's not all doom and gloom. Especially if you're Apple. The sixth most-read story of the month looked at a market research report that found three-quarters of medical and dental offices plan to spend thousands of dollars on tablet computers over the next year.
Midwest Hand Surgery Auction Closing 5/26 at 8PM. Hologic Fluoroscan Insight-FD Mini C-Arm, Nuvo Dual-Lamp Surgical Lighting System W/Control Panel, Ritter M11 Ultraclave Automatic Sterilizer & More! 2 Day Women's Treatment Center Auction Coming Soon!
And by tablets, we basically mean iPads. For doctors, small business owners and consumers alike, Apple's product is to tablet computers what Kleenex is to tissue paper.
On the website, the other big happening of the month was DOTmed Business News' publisher Phil Jacobus launched his very own blog, The Jacobus Report, featuring stories drawn largely from his visits with his many friends in the industry.
