Radiology Oncology Systems, Inc. (ROS) has announced it has acquired a RapidArc ™ enabled linear accelerator system, ready for sale in the United States. It is the first RapidArc system available for sale in the refurbished equipment market.

RapidArc is one of the newest and most sought-after technologies for radiation therapy today. With RapidArc, a beam of radiation sweeps around the cancer patient in one, uninterrupted revolution. During the sweep, the linear accelerator not only adjusts its gantry speed, but simultaneously varies the radiation dose distribution and the shape of the radiation beam. More radiation can be delivered to the tumor in a shorter amount of time, which translates to faster and more precise treatment of the tumor, all in one revolution.

"We are proud to announce that we have the first-ever RapidArc system in the used/refurbished equipment market in the United States," stated Greg Bare, Vice President of Sales for ROS. "With this system, a freestanding radiation oncology facility can afford to have the same technology as a larger university hospital." The unit is being made available in the United States.
