Unfors Instruments' U.S. branch just found a new home.

On Friday, the X-ray service instrumentation company said its American division finished moving into its new digs in Hopkinton, Mass., a short drive west of Boston.

The new facility, Unfors' North and South American headquarters, is three times bigger than its old location in New Milford, Conn., which is now closed, the company said. About two-thirds of the new space is given over to operations.

"We initiated this move due to our continued rapid growth, our need for additional lab space to service current customers and our plans to launch several new products in the coming year," Kevin McMahon, Unfors Instruments Inc.'s president, said in a statement. "We are delighted to be a part of the thriving life science community located here in Massachusetts."

Hopkinton, Mass., about 30 miles outside Boston and home to some 14,000 souls, was voted the 19th best small town to live in by CNN Money in 2009.

Unfors' U.S. branch isn't the only one to move houses recently. On Thursday, the company's Japanese division moved into its new offices in Yokohama, Japan.

The parent company, founded in 1994, is based in Billdal, Sweden.
