Are biomedical engineers 'good people?'

This is Healthcare Technology Management week and everybody is talking about it. Here is my perspective:
Now that I am qualified to join AARP, I have been around long enough to follow a lot of health care careers. I have seen a lot of people start out at the bottom and work their way to the top.
Unfortunately, as some people climb the corporate ladder, they become full of themselves and think they are better than others. However, it has been my experience with engineers that no matter how high they climb in the company, they are still just regular people without a lot of pretense, and they are fun to be around.
I always ask myself if that is someone I would like to make a four hour car ride with, and in the case of most biomedical engineers, the answer is always yes.
So, in addition to keeping the hospital running and staying calm when everyone else is nervous and figuring out solutions that seem obvious but blow other people's mind, I salute you guys and gals for being fun people to be with.
As Abraham Lincoln said, "Nearly all men can stand adversity but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
