Intermountain St. Vincent Regional Hospital, part of Intermountain Health, has revealed design plans for its new 737,000-square-foot replacement hospital in Billings, Montana.

The facility will rise 14 stories on the existing St. Vincent campus, replacing the current building upon completion, and represents an investment of $1 billion dollars, according to the Billings Gazette.

“This replacement hospital offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to design a modern facility for decades of high-quality care,” said Lee Boyles, president of Intermountain St. Vincent Regional Hospital.

The new facility will feature 243 patient beds, with the potential to expand by 16 beds as demand grows. Each room is designed to be adaptable, capable of being converted to intensive care to respond to changing healthcare needs.

Operating rooms will integrate advanced technology, including robotic surgical systems, and accommodate various procedures. Consolidated pre-op, operating, and recovery areas aim to streamline patient care.

“We are elevating healthcare for future generations,” said Dustin Strandell, COO of Intermountain St. Vincent. “This design reflects insights from hundreds of meetings with providers, caregivers, and experts.”

St. Vincent has served the Billings community for over 125 years.

Construction is slated to begin in spring 2025, with an estimated completion in 2029. At the peak of construction, the project will employ 600-700 workers on-site, contributing to a broader economic impact for the region.
