Akumin Inc. and United Imaging have announced a multiyear, multimodality strategic alliance, with the partnership set to debut its first Center of Excellence at Akumin’s Plantation, Florida, facility in early 2025.

The revamped Plantation site will house United Imaging’s flagship systems, including the uMR OMEGA 75 cm 3T MRI and the uMI Panvivo PET/CT, which are designed to deliver high-speed imaging and improved diagnostic accuracy. The facility will also feature Akumin’s Radiology Command Center, providing services for hospitals and healthcare providers.

Akumin is a leading provider of imaging and radiation oncology services in the U.S., partnering with over 1,000 healthcare providers and physician groups.
Krishna Kumar, CEO of Akumin, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “Our new Plantation center sets the standard for imaging, combining Akumin’s commitment to patient-first care with United Imaging’s innovative technology.”

The facility will serve as a showcase for United Imaging’s capabilities and as a model for future Akumin centers across the U.S. In addition to its cutting-edge equipment, the center will incorporate a modernized design with enhanced workflows and expanded patient capacity.
