Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano has announced new infrastructure expansions to meet the rising healthcare demands in Plano and surrounding areas.
The plans amount to a $343 million investment by the hospital to support the growing needs of Collin County, and calls for an eight-story patient tower.
Construction on the planned eight-story tower, expected to break ground in summer 2025, is set for completion by fall 2028. This new addition will expand the hospital’s capacity to nearly 400 acute and critical care beds, up from 230, providing additional resources for short-term intensive care and critical care treatment. The project also includes a relocated helipad on the tower’s rooftop and an expanded pharmacy department within the hospital’s connected basement.
“With Collin County’s population growth, these expansions allow Texas Health Plano to meet the evolving healthcare needs of our community,” said Fraser Hay, president of Texas Health Plano. “We have served this area for over three decades, and this expansion enables us to continue meeting the needs of our patients at every stage of life.”
Texas Health Plano, part of the Texas Health Resources system, focuses on high-acuity care, particularly in neurosciences, cardiovascular health, and trauma services. A new operating room, currently under construction, will support advanced procedures in neurology and cardiology, including endovascular aneurysm repair and transcatheter aortic valve replacements. Once operational, the room will be Texas Health Plano’s second facility equipped for complex, multidisciplinary procedures.
The hospital recently completed an expansion of its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), adding seven private rooms to support families of infants requiring long-term care. The NICU now includes 42 beds, with specialized accommodations for multiple births. Additionally, a 696-space garage opened this month, adding 538 parking spots to the hospital’s West Campus and featuring a sky bridge to the adjacent Medical Office 2 building.
