CHRISTUS Health marked the 75th anniversary of its hospital in Sulphur Springs, Texas, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs, and announced a $25 million expansion plan.

In collaboration with the Hopkins County Healthcare Foundation and local partners, the hospital is set to undergo a two-phase expansion project. The project includes an 8,000-square-foot addition to the surgical wing and the construction of a new clinic building that will house orthopedics, gastroenterology, and interventional pain specialists.

“We have seen unbelievable growth, and we are not going to stop,” said Paul Harvey, hospital president. “We are committed to providing first-class health care and we are excited for the future."

The upgraded surgical wing will feature eight operating rooms, a changing lounge, 13 additional post-op recovery areas, 19 pre-op rooms, and larger surgical suites outfitted with the latest technology, including robotic surgical systems. According to Harvey, these advancements will allow the hospital to serve more patients, reduce wait times, and offer services on par with urban hospitals.

Founded as Memorial Hospital in 1949, the facility has undergone several transformations, including a relocation in 1968 and its renaming to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. In 2016, CHRISTUS Health acquired the hospital and gave it its current name.
