Radiology Partners (RP) announced on Thursday a practice partnership with Renaissance Imaging Medical Associates Inc. (RIMA) in California.
RP now has over 800 radiologists and operates in 15 states.
“We have been looking for the right platform in California and believe that RIMA is the best opportunity for market entry,” Rich Whitney, chairman and CEO of Radiology Partners, told HCB News. “RIMA is the largest independent radiology group in California and has a long track record of raising the bar in terms of quality and service for its hospital and imaging center clients and, in turn, its patients.”
RIMA employs 99 physicians and operates in 17 hospitals and 14 free-standing imaging centers on a 24/7 basis. It’s currently the eighth largest independent radiology practice in the country.
This is the third radiology practice to join RP in the past four months. It acquired Arizona-based
Southwest Diagnostic Imaging in September and Illinois-based
Specialists in Medical Imaging in November.
According to Whitney, 2017 was “an incredible year of growth” for the practice — it closed almost $1 billion in funding.
“Our scale and access to capital have enabled aggressive investments in innovative clinical programs, technology, new services, and physician leadership development programs,” he said. “RIMA's patients and their hospital and outpatient imaging center clients will directly benefit from access to these expanded capabilities.”
